Healthcare Provider Seminar 2012
La Leche League of Connecticut's Annual Healthcare Provider Seminar for 2012 was held at the Southbury Crowne Plaza on April 27, 2012 from 8:15am-4:45pm.
Our Healthcare Provider Seminar is open to doctors, nurses, lactation consultants and other breastfeeding professionals to provide them with the opportunity to connect and share information regarding breastfeeding and its health effects not only on the infant but the community at large.
We are pleased to announce our featured speakers were; Nancy Mohrbacher, IBCLC, FILCA who joined us to present Working and Breastfeeding Made Simple, Transitioning to the Breast and Nipple Trauma: Causes and Treatment.
Our second speaker was Jennifer Lewy Young, MD, FAAP, IBCLC. She presented What Mothers Hear: Common Obstacles to Breastfeeding Success.
We announced our Healthcare Provider of the Year Award during lunch at the HPS. The 2011 winner was Dr. Paul Juan, from Valley Pediatrics of Greenwich.The featured guests for Saturday, April 28, will be Jared M. Skowron, ND, Nancy Mohrbacher, IBCLC, FILCA, the Connecticut Breastfeeding Coalition, Mothers' Milk Bank of New England, and Kathy Abbott, LLL Leader, IBCLC.

Following The Healthcare Provider Seminar, we invited Kim John Payne, M. Ed. and author of Simplicity Parenting, to speak to a small audience at 7:00 pm on Friday, April 27th.. Tickets are available for purchase on our 2012 Area Conference Online Registration Form or, if you're not attending the Area Conference, you can purchase them here for $15. Tickets may be picked up at WILL CALL.
Continuing Education
The Stamford Hospital designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category I Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Stamford Hospital is accredited by the Connecticut State Medical Society to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.
La Leche League of Connecticut has applied for 6 Contact Hours for RNs from the Connecticut Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
La Leche League of Connecticut has applied for 6 CERPs from International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners by a providership through La Leche League Alliance for Breastfeeding Education.
LLL Alliance for Breastfeeding Education Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will also be offered to LLL Leaders.
